Michelle Shuttleworth Towler Voice Studio

Remote Lessons

Michelle has been teaching remotely for many years - even before the pandemic!  The comfort of singing in the relaxed setting of one's own home can be a hugely beneficial.  Plus, the convenience of remote learning means no commute and the ability to keep learning if you travel!  Michelle has taught her students while they were living or traveling across the US, the UK, throughout Europe, Iceland, Central America, China, Japan, the Philippines, the Bahamas and beyond!

Remote Lesson FAQ's

Do I need special equipment for remote lessons?

No!  We conduct lessons via FaceTime or Skype.  Students will need to have one device to view the lesson and a second device on which to play the tracks needed for song accompaniment.

Is a remote lesson really the same quality as having an in-person lesson?

All of Michelle's pre-COVID students who had to switch from in-studio to remote learning in 2020 agreed that they were able to maintain the same high quality of training online that they had in-person.  Many of them have continued studying remotely even after being able to return to the studio!  Michelle wears specialized headphones that allow her to hear the same subtleties and nuances in your voice that she would in-person, and she is able to make all the same assessments and adjustments.  The biggest difference is that students sing songs to tracks instead of live piano accompaniment.

What type of internet connection do I need to have?

You probably don't need to worry about internet speed or connection.  Usually, even basic internet services can accommodate the video chat platforms used for lessons.  To be certain, we will check during the initial consultation to ensure the connection is good enough.
