NOW ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS!

Michelle Shuttleworth Towler is a passionate and patient vocal instructor who has been teaching in New York City for the last 17 years.  Michelle is proud to teach both world class professional performers as well as non-performers whose goals are purely personal.  Since 2007, Michelle's professional students have been cast in Broadway shows, Off-Broadway productions, tours and cruises, and film and television in NYC and around the world.  Her non-professionals have not only improved their singing, but many have credited their voice training with positively impacting their self esteem and sense of wellbeing as well as inciting change in other areas of their lives.

Michelle’s pedagogy is highly personalized and trains the singer in a holistic way.  She addresses vocal technique, health and anatomy as well as the mental, physiological and emotional elements that contribute to vocal performance.

While helping her students fine tune their musical artistry, Michelle makes vocal health a top priority.  Michelle participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Mentorship Program.  Through this, she studied with world class musical theater voice instructors to enhance her own pedagogical skills.  She spends time observing otolaryngologists, speech pathologists and singing specialists at the NYU Voice Center, attends panels at Weill Cornell and hears vocal cases presented at Columbia University Medical Center.  She continues to take courses in vocal anatomy and physiology to ensure she can give her students the best vocal education possible.

Additionally, Michelle is committed to exploring vocal training as a means of self improvement.  She continues her studies in how singing can be beneficial in a therapeutic sense and regularly confers with therapists and psychologists and studies somatic work.
